Buyer Challenge

Many Malaysian distributors want their own dog-treat brand but assume private label means container-scale commitment and long, fixed lead times. That assumption can block market entry. A 200 kg minimum order quantity offers a more manageable way to place a first trial order and test a SKU before scaling — provided the distributor still handles the usual market and compliance work.

Why It Matters

  • A lower MOQ reduces inventory and cash-flow risk for a new brand.
  • Samples (≈10 days) let you verify texture, smell, packaging and label fit before committing to bulk.
  • Bulk lead time of ≈30–40 days after sample, specification and artwork approval keeps reorder cycles manageable.
  • FOB Qingdao keeps the Incoterm clear and lets the importer control freight and insurance from the Chinese port.

How Buyers Reduce the Risk

A practical project path:

  1. Define the product brief. Protein (chicken, duck, fish or others), format (jerky, semi-moist, chew), target net weight, and shelf-life expectation. Our standard products are built around an ≈18-month shelf life.
  2. Request a sample (≈10 days). Evaluate the sample against your brief — texture, aroma, packaging and how the label reads to a Malaysian buyer.
  3. Lock the specification. Recipe, net weight, packaging material and artwork. Bulk timing starts after sample, specification and artwork approval — not before.
  4. Place a trial order at MOQ from ~200 kg. Bulk production lead time is ≈30–40 days after the three approvals above.
  5. Confirm Incoterms: FOB Qingdao, China. The buyer arranges and pays for freight and insurance from Qingdao; the supplier handles export coordination at the port of origin.
  6. Run Malaysia-side compliance in parallel (see Article 1). Animal Feed Board registration, DVS first-time approval for animal-based products, MAQIS e-Permit per consignment, and the Veterinary Health Certificate. We support the documents a Malaysian importer needs; the approval decision rests with the authorities and the importer.

What a Reliable Supplier Should Provide

  • Clear MOQ and lead-time figures: sample ≈10 days; bulk ≈30–40 days after sample, specification and artwork approval.
  • OEM / Private Label coordination and packaging customization.
  • A specification sheet, COA and ingredient traceability (composition, species, country of origin).
  • Document support for the importer’s DVS / MAQIS filing.
  • Transparent FOB Qingdao terms and export coordination.
  • Honest boundaries: we do not guarantee Malaysia approval or customs clearance, and we do not claim to own the production plants.
